ANGKOR HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN, located in Siem Reap, Cambodia, is one of the country’s top paediatric hospitals and a leader in medical training and paediatric research – all vital roles in a country that is still recovering from the long-term devastation of civil war and genocide. As a non-profit, fee-free service, AHC’s central mission is to improve healthcare for all of Cambodia’s children. The vision is for all Cambodian children to have access to quality compassionate medical care wherever they live and whatever their ability to pay. AHC treats between 500 and 600 children a day at no cost to the child’s family. AHC also works within the community organising comprehensive education, awareness and empowerment campaigns for rural areas, as well as training for healthcare workers at all levels of their career. 98% of AHC’s 500+ staff are Cambodian. Their medical team is made up of 70 doctors, 200 nursing staff and 100 other medical staff members, many of which have trained and developed as part of the Angkor Hospital for Children teaching program. www.angkorhospital.org
